Connecting Collections

Connecting Collections is a research and teaching project driven by the extraordinary early European art collections of The University of Manchester and The University of Melbourne.

The Connecting Collections project is an incubator for research on images and ideas of the body in the period between about 1400 and 1700.

It grows from an initiative of the vice-chancellors of the two institutions to enhance research collaboration.

A two-day event, 'Researching and Exhibiting Medieval and Early Modern Collections in Melbourne and Manchester' was held at the Rylands in July 2017.

Academics involved in the Connecting Collections research are: Anne Dunlop (Herald Chair in Fine Arts at the University of Melbourne), Cordelia Warr (Senior Lecturer in Art History and Visual Studies at the University of Manchest), Anne Kirkham (Honorary Research Fellow in Art History and Visual Studies at the University of Manchester), Danielle Gravon (PhD student in Art History and Visual Studies at the University of Manchester), Helen Pierce (Lecturer in British Art at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland), and Debra Higgs Strickland (scholar of medieval and early modern art history and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow).
